Photo Album

This photo album has been a lifeline in recalling so many things that I experienced as a coach for the Munich Cowboys Cheerleaders and my time in Munich. So glad that I took the time to take a lot of photos of my time in Munich and organize them. And, it is important to remember  that this was in the  time before cell phones with cameras. I actually had to take time to get the film developed and then organize them in a book. This photo album has become so valuable in remembering all of the practices, games, championships and other great memories from my time with the girls.

This photo album has been a lifeline in recalling so many things that I experienced as a coach for the Munich Cowboys Cheerleaders and my time in Munich.  So glad that I took the time to take a lot of photos of my time in Munich and organize them. And,it is important to remember  that this was in the  time before cell phones with cameras. I actually had to take time to get the film developed and then organize them in a book.   This photo album has become so valuable in remembering all of the practices, games, championships and other great memories from my time with the girls.

When Martha told me that she wanted to pitch my story with the girls and needed some photos I went right to this album. I had no idea the treasure trove that was waiting for me.

I was meticulous in not only arranging the photos by category and year, but I also saved all of the articles, game programs, ticket stubs, and magazines we were featured in.  As I look at the photos of the girls, it takes me back in time to the giggly, boy crazy, teenagers that were clueless about cheerleading but all who were willing to learn. There were so many things that I had forgotten as I turned each page. The first practices and the memory of how “green” they were when I began coaching them. They had problems with the basics such as a simple shoulder stand and didn’t know the proper mounts or dismounts.

I reflected on our  time spent in Florida where we went in the Summer, to cheer camps at Florida State University and then the next two times at University of Central Florida. There were also reminders of actual football games at Dante Stadium in the Summers. And, of course ,the many championships. I reconnected with about 12 girls from the team last Spring. Though they are now in their 40’s with families, it’s  still hard to envision them as those young girls that I had coached many years ago. They all have their same personalities ; now some of them have children of their own. It was wonderful to see the smart, funny, beautiful ladies that they had become. I look forward to sharing some of my memories in this photo album on my website. www.fit-bodies.net.
