25 Mar Training Martha Hall Kelly
This is how it all began, training Martha Hall Kelly about nine years ago. I was supporting her in 2016 as she wrote her first novel, “Lilac Girls,” and was searching for a book agent. As we swapped stories I found myself sharing accounts of my living and working in Munich. Every time I would share a particular story about my life in Munich, Martha would accent the conversation by adding that this is just another exciting aspect to the “Kathy Murray” story. I would laugh and tell her she was absolutely crazy. Fast Forward to Fall 2020 and Martha is asked by Amazon to write an Audible Original. Of course, I congratulate her and ask her what will be her new theme? Martha’s response is that her theme is,”Your story, Kathy Murray, and that of The Munich Cowboys Cheerleaders.” Jokingly, I asked, Are you kidding?”
I sent Martha a YouTube Video of my Team and me winning the Crystal Light National Championship. That eventually led me to working and living in Munich, Germany. Martha told me she could not stop watching it. She watched it at least twenty times and thought it was so inspirational. Martha was so excited! “I want to make the “Kathy Murray” story my first Audible Original!” I was completely blown away. Martha is a three time New York Times Best Seller with her first three books. She could write about anything and she thought my story was a great story to tell. She told me that she wrote about dead people in her first three books and that this would be a positive change featuring a living character.
So, Martha pitched my story to Audible in 2020 and a year and half later we have the “The Munich Cowboys Cheerleaders”. It’s been such a joy collaborating with her and recalling my trials and tribulations in writing a great story about my life in Munich and with the Cheerleaders. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we have enjoyed writing it.
